Perspicuity

                                                                                                                                   VISUAL ASPECT(S) OF LIFE

It is a well known prerequisite within the chef profession that for food to be appetizing it has to be visually appealing. This importance of the visual aspect to food can be seen in the way chefs take meticulous care in the presentation of their meals. Before deciding to stop reading this article further hold on just a sec, there's still much interesting to come. So bear with me.
Does the sense of sight offer ultimate, unparalleled indulgence, gratification and pleasure compared to the other senses? The other senses being off course the sense of touch, smell, taste and that of hearing. I leave this to you to ponder over.

Through eyesight we are able to absorb sumptuous work of the fine arts, architecture, natural surroundings and fashion. We can choose to interpret, analyse or simply enjoy such stimuli.

The Palais Royal of France once esteemed 'the most beautiful house in Europe' during the 1700s

Beauty of our fellow humans and any other facet of it that may manifest itself in physical form can only be discerned through our visual sense. Albeit the ability of this sense to detect and recognize beauty is linked and functions in conjunction with  human beings' cognition. This brings to mind the saying ;beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Former Miss world Aishwarya Rai. To some she may not come across as beautiful.

It must be conceded that our sense of sight can also present us with a distorted sense of reality. This is due to our subjectivity and psychological states. Thus this sense is not always 100% reliable.

At first glance this looks like a sketch of a young lady with her face turned away but upon closer inspection it is an          elderly  woman with a big nose

What about the sixth sense, does it exist? Yes it does and it is called intuition. Many of us have learned to trust and heed it. This is so because often times it has proved to be reliable. What does the 15th century philosopher Henri Bergson have to say about Intuition?

Henri starts off his postulation(s) on the notion of instinct. He says humanity shares with the animal world the capacity for instinctual behaviour. Instinct, he says is able to act spontaneously and grasp the fluidity of life freed from the distorting constrictions of the intellect,it is self-conscious. Henri suggests that when intellect and instinct combine the'll transcend to form a new superior faculty ; This faculty being Intuition.
According to him intuition empathizes with all beings and reveals itself in situations of intense human experience, action, joy and sadness.

Bestselling author Paulo Coelho in his book titled 'The Alchemist' makes the following comment about intuition ; Intuition is really a sudden immersion of the soul into the universal current of life where the histories of all people are connected and we are able to know everything.

Finally to wrap this article up, there's no doubt that the sense of eyesight is king especially considering that some of us if not most are carnal. Ti's this sense that enables us to acquire knowledge through reading. Though it can be argued that the auditory sense also allows knowledge to be drawn in through the listening of tales that carry wisdom and moral lessons. Ladies and gentlemen I shall end the article on this note, for now its adios.
